How To Keep All Your Requests From Arriving At The Same Time

A woman wearing a red hat and glasses holds a book and sits between two stacks of books.

Sometimes it feels like all your requests from the Library arrive at once. What do you do if you want to request a book or DVD – but you don’t need it to arrive as soon as possible?

Our online catalog has a new feature that allows you to schedule your requests – so you can make the request, but we won’t deliver the book or DVD until the date you specify.

How do you do this?

Start by logging into the online catalog. If you lose that link, don’t worry! You can always log in where it says MY ACCOUNT on the top righthand corner of this website, keyslibraries.org.

Find the title you want, and select PLACE HOLD.

catalog entry for Native Plant landscaping for florida wildlife by Craig Norman Huegel, locations and option to place hold.

That’s when you can tell us when you’d like this hold request to kick in. Click on the button that says “I don’t need this item before” and tell us when we should ACTIVATE YOUR HOLD.

If you are planning to go out of town or just want to wait for awhile you can also push the pause button on your holds. Go to your bookshelf under your account, then on the right hand side, hit the arrow next to the CANCEL HOLD button and select FREEZE. When you’re back and ready to get your books or DVDs, go to the same place and select UNFREEZE.

Button that reads Cancel Hold with a drop down that says Freeze.

You can also manage when you get your eBooks and eAudiobooks from Libby! That link shows you how to do it, step-by-step, but the short version is when a hold is ready, you can tell Libby to DELIVER LATER, and keep your place in line (or delay it longer, if you wish).
