Author Mark Powell — January 7th at 6PM

Acclaimed novelist Mark Powell will talk about his new literary thriller, “Firebird,” at the Key West Public Library on Tuesday, Jan. 7 at 6:00 PM. This free event is open to the public and books will be available for purchase. For more information contact the library at 305-292-3595.

Mark Powell has been called the “best Appalachian novelist of his generation” by Ron Rash, and a writer “on the verge of greatness” by Pat Conroy. He is the author of six novels, including “Small Treasons” (Simon & Schuster, 2017), and “The Sheltering” (Story River, 2014). Powell has received fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Breadloaf and Sewanee Writers’ Conferences, and in 2014 was a Fulbright Fellow to Slovakia. He holds degrees from Yale Divinity School, the University of South Carolina, and the Citadel. He lives in the mountains of North Carolina where he teaches at Appalachian State University.
