which features authors and lecturers discussing interesting
aspects of Florida history Tuesdays in February

Program: The African Diaspora Experience in Florida

An examination of Florida’s relationship with African descendants, from 1513 to the present, which has had a direct impact on the state’s growth. Topics include Florida maroons/black Seminoles, slavery, Reconstruction and the Civil Rights Movement.

About the Speaker: Dr. Anthony Dixon is the Founder and President of Archival and Historical Research associates, LLC., Field Director for the Florida African American Heritage Preservation Network, and Adjunct Professor of History at Florida A&M University.

Registration is not required. Each talk will premiere on the library’s Facebook page and Youtube channel.
