While libraries are closed to in-person visits, what do I do with library books/DVDs?
The Monroe County Library System branches are closed to in-person visits. We understand the significant impact this causes for our patrons, but know this action is safe and prudent for our community during this COVID-19 emergency .
Please disregard any library notices regarding overdue or held materials. Overdue fines will be waived. Book drops are closed for returns. If you are leaving the Keys for a while and need to return your library materials, please call your local library to schedule an appointment and a librarian will meet you at the library to safely collect your materials.
While our physical locations will be closed for everyone’s safety, your Libraries continue to serve you. Throughout the closures, library staff will be available by telephone Monday through Saturday from 9am-5pm. Telephone services will include reference, renewal of material, and assistance for new users in the creation of an E-Library card so they may access the library system’s digital collection and electronic resources, etc. The AskALibrarian service will be expanded to provide reference services via chat, text, and email. Via Facebook Live and this website, Librarians will present virtual programming such as story times, book talks on our digital collection, and training sessions on our digital resources. Contact your local branch library for additional links and information.
We are all in this together and we look forward to seeing you in person soon!
