1911 – The Key West City Directory listed 30 cigar manufacturers.


1925 – Herman Wolkowsky announced the $40,000 sale of his long-running furniture business at the corner of Southard and Duval streets in Key West.


1951 – President Harry Truman arrived in Key West for a three-week vacation at the Little White House.


1954 – Six Navy men were killed when two helicopters collided in midair over Fleming Key. The aircraft, attached to Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron One, had just taken off from the Trumbo Point base.


1955 - The Navy’s Underwater Photo Team was part of the crew filming for CBS Television’s “Navy Log” series. The crew was filming an episode about underwater demolitions in 40 feet of water off Sand Key.


1966 – Actress and singer Jayne Mansfield began a nine-night run of her one-woman show at the Tradewinds Supper Club, located in the Holiday Inn at Key West.


2010 – A two-vehicle crash on Cudjoe Key resulted from a woman driver shaving her bikini area while her ex-husband took the wheel from the passenger seat. The woman, who claimed she was getting ready for a meeting with her boyfriend, had been convicted of DUI charges the day before.
