1974 – Key West police arrested 18 men and three women for sleeping in public and trespassing after they were found camping in a brushy, wooded area near Rest Beach along Atlantic Boulevard.

2000 – Some residents of Geiger Key complained the area was “going to hell,” saying the pub, grill, and marina complex there was attracting irresponsible people. They claimed drunkenness, fights, garbage, and the dumping of raw sewage were making the quiet, sparsely settled neighborhood “like Duval Street.”
