The Friends of the Key West Library’s speaker series will present Key West’s own “Honorary Conch” George Cooper as he discusses his Guide to the Key West Literary Pantheon on January 17, 6:00 pm.
George Cooper has had a variety of careers. He spent most of his first twenty-five adult years as a law professor at Columbia University, and as a civil rights lawyer during the 1960-70 heyday of that reform movement.
Since 2000, he has devoted himself to non-profit arts projects. He was deeply involved in establishing the Tropic Cinema, for which he served as founding chairman, treasurer and general overseer. In 2016, with his wife Judy Blume, he helped found Books & Books at The Studios of Key West. A Guide to the Key West Literary Pantheon is the most recent of his published works.
This event will take place outdoors in our library’s lovely Palm Garden, the site of the Friends’ popular book sales. If the weather doesn’t cooperate, we’ll be inside in the library’s auditorium.
