1st Friday Concert Series
We’ve got another great line-up of 1st Friday Concerts set for this year. These free performances start at 6 p.m. (unless noted otherwise) and take place outside the Library’s doors at the Tradewinds Shopping Plaza.
October 4 – Mateo Jampol – Mateo is a classical solist and composer who has toured internationally. He currently performs a monthly concert series at St. Columba Church in Marathon. He teaches classical guitar throughout the Florida Keys. The concert features his compositions for a classical guitar melodic journey.
November 1 – David Feder – David is a highly acclaimed guitarist known for his virtuosic skills and unique fusion of musical styles. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, Feder’s journey into the world of music began at an early age when he picked up his first guitar. His innate talent and passion for the instrument quickly became evident as he honed his craft through countless hours of practice and dedication.
December 6 – Patchouli and Terra Guitarra – Patchouli and Terra Guitarra is the duo of master guitarist Bruce Hecksel and vocalist and rhythm guitarist Julie Patchouli. Their soulful fusion of blazing Spanish and world guitar rhythms, sparkling melodies and spine-tingling harmonies are infused with a visible onstage chemistry.
January 3 – Lil’ Rev – Lil’ Rev is a world-class entertainer and steward of vintage song and lore. Performing with ukulele, harmonica, mandolin, guitar and banjor, Rev has an unmatched reporteire of both traditional and original song, poetry, storytelling and humor.
SPECIAL SATURDAY PERFORMANCE: January 4, 3 pm – Hungrytown – Hungrytown is a true artistic hybrid, able to hold Celtic and Americana, ballads and psychedelia, sunshine and darkness, joy and despair — not only within the same album, but within the same song. In addition to their CDs, the couple continue to spend time on the road.
February 7 – Brian Smalley – Smalley’s work blends the reflective storytelling of Americana with the twang of traditional country, drawing influence from the rich musical traditions of the United States. His songs, which explore themes of love, grief and life’s intricacies, strike a strong emotional chord with listeners.
March 7 – The Kennedys – The Kennedys are an American folk-rock band, consisting of husband and wife Pete and Maura Kennedy. They are recognized for their harmonies and instrumental prowess, blending elements of country music, bluegrass, Western swing and janglepop.
April 4 – Katherine Archer – Katherine writes songs aimed at inspiring positive change. Incorporating guitar, mandolin, and ukulele in the performance, Katherine takes the audience through a heartfelt landscape of toe-tapping tunes. Each melody is aimed at honoring our connection with each other and the natural environment.
