Movie Matinee: Animal House (R)

Join us at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, August 27, for a free screening of a classic film from 1978.

School is back in session, and what better way to ring it in than with the wild and memorable characters of National Lampoon’s Animal House? Inducted into the National Film Registry in 2001, this raucous and anarchic comedy is still relevant today. With a cast that includes John Belushi, Tim Matheson, Kevin Bacon, and the recently-departed Donald Sutherland, this tale of rival fraternities ushered in an era of disorderly school comedies that carried over for decades afterward. So “anticipate a deeply religious experience” filled with food fights and togas, and you may either look back fondly on your own education or be grateful it’s all over.

This movie is free and open to all – you do not need a Monroe County Public Library card to attend.
