Are you feeling overwhelmed with navigating the media landscape, trying to figure out where various outlets are coming from – or whether you’re in a news silo, only hearing information from one perspective?

Ground News can help you with that. The app processes tens of thousands of news stories from thousands of sources each day, and gathers them into a single piece on any given topic, evaluating the partisan position of the source of information. Curious about how it works? Check out the Frequently Asked Questions here.

You can get Ground News as an extra through Libby. The easiest way is to go to the Libby app and sign in with your library card if you haven’t already. (Your PIN is usually the last four digits of your phone number.) Scroll down to Extras and click on Ground News.

You’ll find stories that are in “blind spots” (ie. not well covered) by the left and the right, trending news and more. Try it out and break free from the algorithms that are serving you on social media.
