Homeschooling help from the Monroe County Public Library

Three kids look at a laptop computer.

Alternative education and homeschooling have been a Florida Keys choice for many decades. Our unique geography provides opportunities beyond the traditional classroom—and your public library is here to assist.

Here’s the library homepage for kids and teens, including:

Books and DVDs, eBooks and eAudiobooks, streaming video content for kids, computers and printing (and all libraries have free wifi) and research databases for different ages.

All our branches offer programs for kids and teens and some have programs especially for homeschoolers:

How do I get a library card?

You can sign up online and get started with our digital resources right away. You’ll need to come to one of our branches within three months and show local ID, proof of local residency or a military I.D. to get a card and borrow physical materials. There’s a lot you can do at the library, including attending programs, printing and using our laptops, even if you don’t have a card.
