Movie Matinee: Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion (R)

Two women face each other, each with one leg kicked back.

Join us at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28, for a free screening that will help celebrate the end of the school year with a hilariously off-beat story about the surprising ways people grow up (and the ways they emphatically don’t). It may even make you feel better about your own high school alumni.

How terrifying is it to see your old classmates again? Best friends with more than a few quirks between them, Romy (Mira Sorvino) and Michele (Lisa Kudrow) are faced with this question as their high school reunion looms near. As with most kids, those quirky qualities didn’t make either one of them popular in high school, but now is their chance to show how accomplished they’ve become – until they realize they have nothing to show for the past decade. But who’s going to know if they toss in a harmless fib or two about the inventions of Post-Its and superglue?

This movie is free and open to all – you do not need a Monroe County Public Library card to attend.
