Keys Libraries Are Closed On Labor Day – But We’re Still Here For You

All Monroe County Library branches are closed on Monday, Sept. 5, in observance of Labor Day.

But there’s still a lot you can do with your Library card, thanks to online Library resources.

The Florida Keys History Center online image archive

Almost 23,000 images from 200 years of Keys history are available on this site. Be careful – you can lose yourself for hours here finding photos of people and places. The image above is from the collection – it’s one of 581 of these passes that were issued to provide access to the Key West waterfront during World War I, documenting the people and the work they did. Ebooks and eaudiobooks

Want something to read on your Kindle, tablet or phone? Or something to listen to? With your Monroe County Public Library card, you have access to almost 14,000 ebooks and almost 4,000 audiobooks that you can download any time. And download the Libby app for the easiest reading and listening. Can’t find the link? We created an easy-to-remember shortcut for our digital media collection, too: estuff.keyslibraries.org

Use library resources to research and learn

Your library card gives you access to a wealth of resources that can improve your life – all for free. That includes LawDepot, where you can get templates for documents like a lease agreement, will and power of attorney, as well as LinkedInLearning, where you can access thousands of online courses and the Florida Electronic Library, which has statewide job listings, government documents, journals, eBooks, newspapers, and more. They’re all under “resources” at our website, www.keyslibraries.org.

Watch a movie

It’s hot outside! And those cable bills and streaming services can really add up. With your Monroe County Public Library card, you have access to up to 12 play credits a month through Kanopy – which has thousands of titles, including documentaries and foreign films.

Don’t have a library card?

If you’re a Monroe County resident or property owner or active or retired military in the Keys and you don’t have a library card, you can register online here – you’ll need to visit a physical branch within three months to confirm your residency and get permission to check out physical materials.

We’ll see you back at our library branches in Key Largo, Islamorada, Marathon, Big Pine Key and Key West Tuesday morning. Questions? You can email us at info@keyslibraries.org any time and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.
