Welcome to our new library

For the first time in over 20 years, Monroe County has a new library building. The Marathon Public Library opened June 26, 2021, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and throngs of residents eager to tour the state-of-the-art facility. The library is located at 3490 Overseas Highway. Hours are Mondays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Tuesdays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

As you enter our new library, you’ll see a Holds Locker available for 24/7 access to items you request. Inside, we have tablets and laptops to borrow, a self-checkout system, small group study/meeting rooms as well as a large community room. A ‘Redbox’ style media box provides your DVD selection. Upstairs, find the expanded, light and airy children’s area, a teen room for gaming, study, and Homework Center with four computers. The Activity Center features a 3D printer, a Cricut maker, sewing machines, virtual reality station and more. Our book collection has expanded to over 10,000 new titles.

The library will be offering programs from Art to Yoga for children, teens and adults. Visit our Location page for news and upcoming events.

We look forward to your visit.
