National Hispanic Heritage Month
Hispanic Heritage Month, celebrated throughout the latter half of September and the first half of October, began as a way to promote the history, culture, and contributions of Hispanic-Americans — specifically, those whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. Let us know how you’re celebrating. Tag us on Facebook/Instagram @keyslibraries and use #KeysReadIn.
There are several ways you and the family can celebrate September 15th-October 15th! Visit your local branch to see what we’re doing!
1.Read-in the park, Read at home, Read in the library, it doesn’t matter where you do it JUST READ! Take a selfie with the book you’re reading and tag us on Facebook or Instagram and use #KeysReadIn. With a few clicks you can even read from your phone! Check out our digital collection on Libby.
2. Start learning Spanish on Mango! We all learned a little bit in school, so why not go all the way! Mango is a language learning website and app that the library offers for free to our patrons! You can learn 70 different languages including Spanish. Let’s get started!
3.Learn how to make a Spanish dish. Our favorite is Tostones! They are a simple tasty snack.
Visit the library and browse our cookbook collections!
