Self-expression through art is an important part of human nature. You don’t have to be in art school, or create marble sculptures, or create realistic paintings to be an artist. Whatever you create is an extension of you, and it is beautiful in that regard.
Join us on Tuesdays from 9:30 to 11:30 AM to let your creativity shine! In this class we will explore different mediums such as sketch, paint, multimedia and more!

Calling all Artists, new and experienced! Bring in items you are working on and help each other during this fun afternoon program. Sometimes a guest artist will have a fun project everyone can participate in. Check the Key Largo Library’s Facebook page for weekly projects during season. It’s a great way to meet other artists and receive help. All library programs are free and open to the public. Except February 27, 2024.
The Libby App allows you to borrow ebooks and audiobooks using your library card from the Monroe County Public Library System. Stop by the Islamorada Library on Tuesday, May 23 between 2:00 and 4:30 pm with your library card, smartphone, laptop or e-reading device to learn more.

Cornerstone Resource Alliance offers help getting a birth certificate and Florida ID, applying for disability benefits, relocating and reunifying with family, assistance with Medicaid and Medicare, health care, mental health and addiction referrals. The group also offers job, housing, shelter and educational assistance, cell phone and mail services, rental assistance, food stamp assistance and clothing and basic needs supplies.

Tools to Quit is a group designed to address all aspects of nicotine addiction, in addition to helping people develop a quit plan and identify a quit date. This group addressed psychological and behavioral dependence. Free nicotine replacement is available/provided to address a person’s physical dependence to tobacco. Studies show that group counseling combined with nicotine replacement can more than double a person’s chances of quitting and staying quit. Hosted by AHEC RN Beth Dunlap.

Stop in for help downloading library apps to your smart phone or tablet. Learn how to download ebooks and audiobooks, and learn how to stream movies from Kanopy too. Basic computer help is also available. Bring your device and questions. Instruction may be one-on-one or group depending on the number of participants.

Stop in for the Key West Library Game Night every Wednesday! Pick up any of our board games, or bring your own and sit at any of the tables in the library’s lounge.
A registered nurse from Keys AHEC visits the Islamorada Library every Thursday from noon until 1 pm offering FREE tools to help you quit tobacco. Join us at the Key West Library for a new Creative Writing Workshop! This month’s focus will be Memoir Writing.
In the first session on March 7, we’ll learn about and practice memoir writing and creative nonfiction with writing exercises. In the second session on March 21, bring your writing to receive feedback in a group workshop setting. Both sessions will begin at 4pm.
All levels of writing experience are welcomed, and writing materials will be provided. Attendance at both sessions is encouraged but not mandatory.
